Exuding an intoxicating bouquet of sun-kissed goldenrod, intertwined with nuanced baked apple, white peach, and a touch of brioche. Very exuberant, with well-integrated acidity that leads to a finish that lingers with a graceful balance.
About the Wine
VINEYARDS:
Escolle Vineyard (Santa Lucia Highlands), Siletto Vineyard (San Benito), Massa Vineyard (Carmel Valley), Fox Creek Vineyard (Carmel Valley), Yount Mill Vineyard (Napa Valley), Manchester Ridge (Mendocino Ridge)
50% Chardonnay, 32% Pinot Noir, 18% Pinot Meunier
WINEMAKING:
The grapes were harvested between 18 and 20 brix, settled overnight and fermented in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak barrels. The wines were aged separately for 6 months in barrel before blending. The wine was then aged in bottle for an additional 16 months before disgorging by hand. 12.2% Alc./Vol. 1 g/l dosage.

WHY WE LIKE IT:
This is our flagship sparkling blend made from grapes grown across California. The blend varies year to year depending on how harvest plays out. Sunflower Sutra comes from an Allen Ginsberg poem written down the road from our winery in the early 1950s. It seemed fitting to name our flagship urban winery blend after a little poem about human perseverance in the face of industrial blight.
